Why are my dishes coming out spotted or with a cloudy film?

Spots form when hard water droplets evaporate and leave mineral deposits, and low phosphate detergents can worsen the problem. To prevent spotting, use hot water, a detergent with at least 8.7% phosphates, and always use a rinse aid. If water is very hard, installing a water softener may be necessary. (Page 13)
