How do I properly light a surface burner?

Place a cooking utensil on the burner, push the surface control knob in and turn it counterclockwise to the LITE position, then visually check that the burner has lit. After confirming ignition, push the control knob in and turn it to your desired flame size. Do not cook with the knob in the LITE position.
