How should I clean the cooktop surface and burner caps?

For general cooktop cleaning, wipe with a clean damp cloth and wipe dry, and use a soap-filled scouring pad or mild abrasive cleanser for the burner caps and burner heads. The ports around the burner head must be routinely cleaned; if residue remains, use a small-gauge wire or needle to clean the slots or holes. Do not allow spills, food, cleaning agents, or any other material to enter the gas orifice holder opening. (Pages 11–12)
