How should I clean the surface burner caps and burner heads?

Use a soap-filled scouring pad or mild abrasive cleanser to clean the burner caps and burner heads, and routinely clean the ports or slots around the burner head. If residue remains in the ports, use a small-gauge wire or needle to clean them, and never allow spills, food, or cleaning agents to enter the gas orifice holder opening. (Page 14)
