How much detergent should I add?

The amount depends on how much soil is on the items and your water hardness. For soft to medium water (0-6 grains per gallon), use less detergent; for medium to hard water (7-12 grains per gallon), use more. Fill the Main Wash section of the dispenser according to your water hardness, and fill the Pre-Wash section only if needed. (Page 4)
