How much detergent should I use and what factors affect the amount?

The amount of detergent depends on how much soil remains on items and the hardness of your water. For soft to medium water (0-6 grains per gallon), use less detergent than for medium to hard water (7-12 grains per gallon). Fill the Main Wash section of the dispenser according to your water hardness, and fill the Pre-Wash section if needed. Do not use less than 1 tablespoon (15g) per load.
