How should I prepare my washer if I am storing it for winter or an extended period?

To winterize the washer, shut off both water faucets and disconnect and drain the water inlet hoses, then put 1 quart (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze in the washer drum and run the washer on the NORMAL cycle for about 2 minutes to mix the antifreeze with remaining water. After that, unplug the washer or disconnect power. If not winterizing but simply leaving the washer unused, also turn off the water supply to avoid flooding from water pressure surges and clean the dispensers. (Page 15)
