How do I properly set up the microwave oven when first installing it?

Place the oven on a flat, sturdy surface and plug the cord into a grounded outlet, leaving at least four inches of space behind, above, and to the sides for ventilation. Open the door, wipe the inside with a damp cloth, then place the pre-assembled roller guide ring in the center indentation and set the glass tray on top so the three glass tabs fit securely into the tabs on the oven floor.
