What is the difference between Filter Style 1 and Filter Style 2?

Filter Style 1 requires regular cleaning and maintenance at least monthly. Filter Style 2 is a maintenance-free filter system that does not require regular cleaning, but has a foreign object cup in front and below the lower rack that should be emptied when full by depressing the tab and pulling up.
