How do I prepare my washer if I'm going on vacation or storing it in freezing weather?

If leaving for vacation, unplug the washer, turn off the water supply, and leave the door slightly open for ventilation. To winterize the washer in freezing weather, put 1 quart (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze in the drum, run a Drain/Spin cycle, unplug the washer, shut off both water faucets, and disconnect and drain the water inlet hoses.
