What should I do if my hot water system hasn't been used for two weeks or more?

Before using the dishwasher connected to a hot water system that has been unused for two weeks or longer, you should turn on all hot water faucets and let the water flow from each for several minutes. This will release any accumulated hydrogen gas, which is explosive. Do not smoke or use an open flame during this time (Page 7).
