How should I load knives and silverware in the dishwasher?

Load sharp knives with the handles up to reduce the risk of cut-type injuries, while spoons should be placed with handles down. Mix knives, forks, and spoons so they don't nest together, and distribute them evenly in the basket. Small plastic items such as measuring spoons should go in the bottom of the silverware basket with silverware placed on top. (Page 9)
