Can I add essential oils directly to the water tank?

No, never add essential oils or other additives to the water tank or water reservoir. Essential oils should only be placed on the included essential oil pads in the oil tray at the back of the humidifier. Putting oil anywhere but the oil tray will damage the humidifier.
