What should I do if there is an unusual odor when I first use the humidifier?

If the unit is new, remove the tank cover and let the tank air out in a cool, dry place for 12 hours. If the unit has been in use and there is an odor, empty the tank, remove the water reservoir, pour out any remaining water, reassemble, and fill with clean, cool water.
