Can I bury the sprinkler timer wires directly in the ground?

While the wires can be buried directly in the ground, for more protection it is recommended to pull them through PVC pipe and bury them underground. Be careful to avoid burying wires in locations where they could be damaged by digging or trenching in the future. (Page 6)
