How do I permanently hold a temperature on the XL824?

Press in the Indoor Temperature area to reveal the Temperature Control Panel, adjust your desired heating or cooling set point using the up and down arrows, then select Hold Perm. The words 'Hold Perm' will appear in bold type and the control will maintain that temperature until you manually cancel it. To cancel, select Hold Perm again and the display will show 'Following Schedule.'
