What should I do before using my washer again after a period of non-use or moving?

Before using the washer again after non-use, vacation, winter storage, or moving: flush water pipes and hoses, reconnect water inlet hoses, and turn on both water faucets; plug in the washer or reconnect power; then run the Bulky/Sheets and Deep Water Wash cycle using only HE detergent with half the manufacturer's recommended amount for a medium-size load to clean the washer and remove any antifreeze if previously used.
