How should I prepare the washer for winter storage or long periods of non-use?

To winterize the washer, shut off both water faucets, disconnect and drain the water inlet hoses, then put 1 qt. (1 L) of R.V.-type antifreeze in the basket and run the washer on the Rinse & Spin cycle for about 30 seconds to mix the antifreeze with remaining water. After winterizing, unplug the washer or disconnect power. When reinstalling, flush water pipes and hoses, reconnect them, then run the washer through a Bulky/Sheets and Deep Water Wash cycle using half the manufacturer's recommended amount of HE detergent to clean the washer and remove antifreeze.
