Why does my washing machine lid not unlock?

Make sure the lid is closed for the washer to operate properly. If a cycle was stopped or paused using the Start (Pause/Unlock) button, the washer may still be spinning and the lid will not unlock until the basket has stopped spinning, which may take several minutes with large loads or heavy fabrics.
